In 2010, Karuna Mangharam and Hena Aggarwal embarked on the journey of creating By The Sea.
Born from a desire to establish an environment where learning happens through play, fostering social, emotional and cognitive development, their dream was to infuse constant positivity into their lives. What better way to achieve this than by being surrounded by the boundless energy and curiosity of children?
Karuna with her Teacher Training in Learning Disabilities and a Bachelor of Education degree in Early Childhood Care and Education from New Zealand Tertiary College, brings a wealth of educational expertise to By The Sea. Her unwavering dedication to working with children has played a pivotal role in By The Sea's success and growth, establishing it as a beacon of educational innovation and excellence under her thoughtful guidance.
On the other hand Hena, who completed her Diploma in Teacher Training in Early Childhood Care and Education coupled with hands-on experience at the school, significantly enriched the learning process.
Hena's strengths lie in the realms of designing, planning and organization across various platforms, making her a pivotal force at By The Sea. As a co-founder, Hena plays a vital role in shaping the vision and mission of By The Sea. Her dedication to providing a holistic learning experience, coupled with her passion for design and organization, has contributed to the establishment of an innovative educational institution.
Together, Karuna and Hena form the heart and soul of By The Sea, where their collective vision and dedication create an environment that not only educates but also nurtures the growth and curiosity of young minds.
All our faculty have a unified vision and our primary focus is that the needs of the individual child are met. Our teachers support, emphasize and celebrate every child’s unique learning style, ensuring that it becomes ingrained and a natural part of their daily life.

Dr. Pervin Dadachanji is a psychiatrist specializing in child and adolescent psychiatry. She completed her MBBS and M.D. in Psychiatry from Seth G.S. Medical College and K.E.M. Hospital, Mumbai and trained at The Royal Free Hospital, London. With 30 years in private practice, she conducts parenting workshops and sessions on sexuality and body science for various groups in Mumbai. She has authored "Recipes for Parenting" and is a consultant at Ummeed Child Development Centre and NH SRCC Children's Hospital in Mumbai.
Vineeta Kanoria taught at Saifee Eidiz Zahabi Nursery School for over 20 years. She holds a Diploma in Specific Learning Difficulties from The Hornsby International Dyslexia Centre, U.K., and worked as a Special Educator at Ummeed Child Development Center for 15 years. She has co-authored several children’s books, including Let's Do This Together, a book on Krishna and Indian art, Neel, Rumble Tumble and Love in the Jungle. Vineeta now shares her expertise with By the Sea.
With over three decades in the corporate world, Upasna led strategy and business development at a global auction house, gaining insights into client and colleague psychology. Her curiosity about human behavior led her to study social and emotional learning, revealing the impact of early life experiences on adulthood. Upasna holds a Master’s Degree in Art Market Studies, a Certificate in Senior Leadership, and a Diploma in Early Childhood Education.
Wendy Jetha has been in primary years and early childhood education for 25 years. She has seen the impact music and movement has on early childhood development for not only children but parents as well. Wendy has designed the music and movement for the Tods program and she works with the Tods teachers.
